Bumpdate: 39 Weeks

Size of Baby: Mini watermelon
Total Weight Gain: 31 pounds
Maternity Clothes?: Obviously.
Stretch Marks? Still none.
Sleep: Sleep varies. Sometimes, I sleep the entire night through and other nights I’m up several times. I’ve been letting myself indulge guilt-free in naps these days too!

Best Moment of the Last Week: Celebrating Charlotte’s third birthday (and learning that she won’t be sharing even her own birthday with her little sister)!
Miss Anything?: Having energy and moving around easily like I used to. I feel like an old woman.

Movement: It’s clear that Amelia’s quarters are a bit cramped. She’s still moving often, but the movements aren’t as big. I also feel a lot of downward movement as she works to make her way into the world.
Food Cravings: No new cravings.
Any Food Aversions: No new aversions either.

Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: Just call me the Queen of False Labor. I have contractions all throughout the day (I’m having one right now!), but they’re just uncomfortable at this point. Sometimes, I’ll have a period in which they are five to eight minutes apart, but they never get painful. With Charlotte, I labored at home until I was five centimeters so I’m pretty familiar with what real labor pain feels like.

I ended up getting checked at my 39-week appointment given the holiday week that marks my 40th. I’m only 1 centimeter dilated, and I swear Amelia crawled back up higher away from the doctor as she was checking. So that’s a great sign!
Symptoms:  Pelvic pressure, lower and some mid-back pain, fatigue and occasional sciatic nerve pain.

Belly Button?: Still in.
Wedding Rings?: All rings are off.
Happy or Moody?: I would be lying if I said I wasn’t getting a little impatient. We’ve always told Amelia she should wait until December to get here, but learning that I’ve made virtually no progress toward real labor despite all of the false labor is annoying. But comparatively speaking, I am doing MUCH better mentally than I was last pregnancy. I feel way more positive and ready to wait until 41 weeks to deliver.
Looking Forward To: Meeting Amelia, family visiting for Thanksgiving and the holiday season!

Charlotte is obsessed with “her baby bump” lately.

Bumpdate: 38 Weeks

Size of Baby: Leek

Total Weight Gain: 30 lbs — my weight is definitely holding steady at this point. I have actually grown since my last appointment and am only two weeks behind in measurements. Doctor said she’s not worried about lack of weight gain given that I’m growing — and neither am I!

Maternity Clothes?: Still in maternity clothes but daydreaming of my real clothes.
Stretch Marks? Still none.
Sleep: Remember how I was bragging about not waking up at night? Now, I’m waking up every two hours to go to the bathroom — it’s officially practice time for those nighttime feedings.

Best Moment of the Last Week: Celebrating Charlotte’s THIRD birthday!
Miss Anything?: Not being/feeling huge.

Movement: She’s definitely starting to make a break for it and push downward with her movements. So that feels great.
Food Cravings: Unfortunately, I’ve been wanting McDonald’s hot fudge ice creams this week.
Any Food Aversions: I feel like such a hypocrite saying this, but I’m actually tired of pizza. It’s hands down my favorite food! But we’ve been eating so much lately on those lazy nights when I don’t want to cook that I’m totally over it.

Gender: Girl — which we confirmed at our ultrasound last week. No surprises on delivery day!
Labor Signs: I’ve been having contractions since last Wednesday. They were pretty close together when they started out that day — averaging five to eight minutes apart — but they tapered off. Since then, I’ve been having them all throughout the day.
Symptoms: Nausea, cramping, lower back pain, mid-back pain, fatigue, pelvic pressure and pain as well as sciatic nerve pain. You should see the kinesiology tape all over my back holding me in place. #pregnancyisbeautiful

Belly Button? Still in.
Wedding Rings? All rings are off.
Happy or Moody? Still super tired.
Looking Forward To: Meeting Amelia and a week of plan-less days leading up to our due date.

Bumpdate: 37 Weeks

Because I’m measuring small, we had an ultrasound on Friday to be sure Amelia was growing well and that my fluid levels were normal. Everything checked out, and the doctor said our little girl looked “perfect!” We learned that she is head down, although she’s kind of laying on her side. The doctor also said that she’s buried up against my spine, which definitely explains why I’m experiencing some of the symptoms listed below. By their estimations, Amelia Rose is weighing in at 6 lbs, 13 oz. Keep in mind, I have three-ish weeks left — so maybe we won’t have a little peanut after all!

Size of Baby: Swiss chard
Total Weight Gain: 30 lbs
Maternity Clothes?: Of course. I feel like they’re all getting too tight too!
Stretch Marks? No — woohoo!
Sleep: My back has really been bothering me while I sleep, but we’ve amended that with a heating pad at night. And since I started sleeping with the heating pad, I haven’t even woken up to go to the bathroom at night. So yes, I’m sleeping great these days.

Best Moment of the Last Week: Getting a free weekend to get some much-needed stuff done around the house. Our dining room is Thanksgiving ready to host both of our families, and the nursery is almost ready to show off!
Miss Anything?: Having energy.

Movement: Despite her cramped quarters, she’s still pretty active. She’s also moving down a lot, preparing to make her way into the world!
Food Cravings: No real cravings…just putting a hurt on that Halloween candy. Sorry, Charlotte.
Any Food Aversions: Nothing new here either.

Charlotte with her baby bump.
Charlotte with her baby bump.

Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: My Braxton Hicks have gotten a lot stronger. There are definitely times when I’ll have several contractions within minutes of one another. But now that I know what real labor contractions feel like, I know that these are just practice pangs. I’ve asked that the doctor not check me for progress until I’m 39 weeks. So far, it’s TOTALLY better not knowing whether I’m dilated/effaced/etc.
Symptoms: Ugh, what am I NOT experiencing these days?! Nausea, cramping, lower back pain, mid-back pain, fatigue, pelvic pressure and pain as well as sciatic nerve pain.

Belly Button? Still in.
Wedding Rings? All rings are off.
Happy or Moody? Tired. Just tired.
Looking Forward To: I think from here on out these are just going to be meeting Amelia! There are still a few more small things to do before she gets here, but we’re a lot more ready now than we were a few days ago!

Bumpdate: 36 Weeks

Size of Baby: Head of romaine lettuce
Total Weight Gain: 30 pounds — and measuring at 33 weeks. Given that I’m now three weeks behind on my measurements, the doctor has ordered an ultrasound for this Friday. We definitely have mixed emotions about this. While it’s great that we get to see her again and find out how she’s positioned, the doctor is concerned about her size as well as my amniotic fluid levels. Her hope — as well as ours — is that Amelia is simply “hiding,” i.e. all tucked up and that’s why she feels/measures so small. So please keep us in your prayers Friday morning if you think of it!
Maternity Clothes?: Obviously.
Stretch Marks? Still none.
Sleep: Still sleeping pretty well for being 36 weeks! I do wake up with a sore back every morning and have my moments of restlessness either before bed or after I’ve gotten up to go to the bathroom, but it’s nothing to what I’m sure other women go through.

Best Moment of the Last Two Weeks: There has been lots of celebrating in the past few weeks: Ryan’s birthday, home for my Mom’s birthday, our fifth anniversary, Ryan’s baptism and Charlotte’s family birthday party. All of this partying has made the time pass quite quickly, but more importantly, it has called for sweet, sweet family time.
Miss Anything?: With all of the celebrating that’s happened in the past few weeks, I’m definitely missing wine again.

Movement: There was a two-day period during which Amelia’s movements were not as frequent as they had been. But since then, she’s picked back up. Shew!
Food Cravings: Nothing new here, really.
Any Food Aversions: Same food aversions too.

Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: Braxton Hicks contractions are growing stronger and more frequent. We went trick-or-treating the other night, and they really kicked into high gear. I was also SO SORE the day after — in my pelvis, back and legs.
Symptoms: Extreme fatigue, mild cramping, mid-back pain as well as pelvic pressure and soreness. A few weeks ago, my heartburn got EXTREMELY bad. So far this pregnancy, Tums have helped clear that up, but it was not doing the trick anymore. I was eating them morning, noon and night. Finally, I called the doctor and made the switch to Prilosec. Total life saver!

Belly Button? Still in.
Wedding Rings? All rings are off.
Happy or Moody? I would say I’m more happy than moody. I’ve gotten to the point where I’m pretty apathetic about most things. But what I’ve noticed mostly in the last few weeks is a change in my mental/emotional outlook. I was so over pregnancy a few weeks ago, and now I feel much better about having four-ish weeks left. I would say that’s a definite difference between this time and last time. Honestly, I’d rather be in physical pain than be in a funk mentally and emotionally.
Looking Forward To: Meeting Amelia! We completed our hospital tour a week ago, and now that I know where it’s all going to go down, I’ve been able to visualize the experience a lot more. I’m also able to identify parts of her body, and that’s helped to bring us closer together.

I can’t find my 36 week photo from the last pregnancy — sorry to my two or three readers!

Bumpdate: 34 Weeks

So at this point, I’m 35 weeks and one day. We spent five days in Evansville earlier this week and have been playing catch up ever since. But the photo and text were all written at 34 weeks.

Size of Baby: Cantaloupe
Total Weight Gain: 29 pounds — and measuring 32 weeks. I really do think Amelia is going to be a little nugget.
Maternity Clothes?: Are there any other type of clothes out there?
Stretch Marks? Still none.
Sleep: I have to say (and hopefully this doesn’t jinx anything), I’ve been sleeping incredibly well — falling asleep fast and staying asleep, except for my once-a-night bathroom break. If I sleep too long on my left side, though, the back pain wakes me up. So there’s that.

Best Moment of the Last Two Weeks: My sweet friends threw me a Sprinkle at the beginning of the month. It was so nice to celebrate Amelia with them and to get a few gifts that will be just hers, instead of Charlotte’s hand-me-downs.
Miss Anything?: A life without back pain.

Movement: Her movement is still the same. Lots of bigger movements, and she’s been getting the hiccups a lot more lately. Poor thing.
Food Cravings: Same — blood orange soda and popcorn.
Any Food Aversions: Last time I stated that I was experiencing a lack of appetite. Yeah…that’s not happening anymore. I’m eating a lot more but still staying away from chicken and fish.

Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: Again, occasional Braxton Hicks.
Symptoms: Mid-back pain that is getting worse every day, it seems. This is, without a doubt, my biggest pregnancy complaint. What makes it even worse is that laying flat for a time feels awesome, but that usually brings on heartburn. It feels best when I’m up and moving about, which is exhausting. Ahhhh — six (or seven) more weeks?!

Belly Button? Still in.
Wedding Rings? All rings are off.
Happy or Moody? Probably more moody than happy, which is what happens when you’re in pain all of the time.
Looking Forward To: Not being pregnant! Noticing a theme? We’ve also made great strides in decorating the nursery, and that makes me super happy. I flip on the light in there every night before bed just to look at it one more time. We can’t wait to have a baby in there!

No, Charlotte will not be making an appearance in the 34 week post. These were taken at about 7:30 a.m. before leaving for Evansville. No one was really feeling the “photo shoot” — myself included. No makeup or hair done. #iwokeuplikethis

Bumpdate: 32 Weeks

Ok, looks like Ryan and I BOTH need to work on camera-taking skills.
Ok, looks like Ryan and I BOTH need to work on camera-taking skills.

Size of Baby: Jicama
Total Weight Gain: 28 pounds (thanks, Disney World! Maintaining on the last two weeks’ weight gain)
Maternity Clothes?: Yes — which mostly consists of black, gray and navy now that the weather is turning colder.
Stretch Marks? Still none.
Sleep: I think I’m still recuperating from Disney so I’ve been falling asleep pretty quickly at night and sometimes not waking up at all. I’ve also taken my fair share of 30- or 45-minute cat naps this week. I figure I’m in the home stretch, and life is about to get crazy/restless — so I’m letting myself indulge guilt-free.

Best Moment of the Last Two Weeks: I’m sure you can guess that it was the familymoon to Disney World. Charlotte and I also had a sweet moment tonight. She was laying on my stomach after a bad fall outside, and Milly Rose was moving and kicking like crazy, which led to lots of giggles and incredulous looks from Charlotte. Amelia’s not even here yet, and they’re already goofing around.
Miss Anything?: What it feels like to not be pregnant.

Movement: The movement is getting bigger and bigger every day. She’s also officially made her way into my ribs, so the movements at this point can be pretty uncomfortable.
Food Cravings: Blood orange soda and popcorn.
Any Food Aversions: Food in general. I’ve definitely seen a loss in appetite the past few days. Don’t worry, Milly girl is getting her food — just not as much as in previous weeks when I was eating everything in sight.

Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: Again, occasional Braxton Hicks.
Symptoms: Mid-back pain — boy, have I been paying for a week off from the chiropractor and days walking around Disney. It has been pretty awful, but I hope to get back on track with weekly visits. Also, loss of appetite, lower back pain on occasion, intense heartburn and burning, sore abdomen. Basically, I’m getting into that really magical part of pregnancy.

Belly Button? Still in.
Wedding Rings? All rings are off.
Happy or Moody? I’ll admit, I’ve been pretty negative since our return from Disney. I’m over the aches and pains of pregnancy, but obviously, it would be way worse if Amelia came now versus staying pregnant. Over the past few days, I’ve really been trying to reflect on how much I wanted and waited for this pregnancy in order to get myself mentally right. So say prayers for me to stay positive in these last few weeks.
Looking Forward To: Being at home more this month and checking items off of our very long pre-winter, pre-baby to-do list.

And now it’s time for the Charlotte show that ensued today…

As Amelia grows day-by-day, so does this girl’s personality!

Bumpdate: 30 Weeks

Photo is 31 weeks but post was written at 30. Also, forgive my appearance. This was taken after five days in Disney and a day of travel. Shew!

Size of Baby: Cucumber
Total Weight Gain: 28 pounds (oops)
Maternity Clothes? Yes — I just need my summer shorts to last another week; hope they make it!
Stretch Marks? Nada.
Sleep: The tossing and turning has begun when I first go to bed, but once I’m asleep, I’m only getting up once in the night.

Best Moment of the Last Two Weeks: Ryan and I have been able to enjoy a few date nights, and we’ve been appreciative of that! We get plenty of nights out as it is, but I know that will change once we’ve got TWO little ones.
Miss Anything?: Just not having a “gut.” I’d love to be able to bend over and pick things up again.

Movement: Amelia’s moves are getting pretty big, which I love. It’s about the only positive thing about being pregnant now. My stomach moves all over the place at this point — baby girl is a mover!
Food Cravings: No new cravings that I can think of!
Any Food Aversions: Nothing new here either.

Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: Just some Braxton Hicks here and there, especially if I’ve been going non-stop all day. Which is just about every day this month (Dear September, you’ve been crazy).
Symptoms: Mid-back pain — that is getting better and better with each chiropractic appointment so I’m extremely thankful for those! Other than that — headaches, heartburn and an itchy, sore abdomen.

Belly Button? Still in.
Wedding Rings? I’m officially calling it: this is the last week wearing a ring.
Happy or Moody? I would say I’m more moody than happy these days, mostly because I’m already starting to feel limited in what I can do physically. I guess I could officially say I’m going through “the bump slump,” i.e. I’m over being pregnant.
Looking Forward To: Our “familymoon” to Disney World is this week. AHHHHHH!!!
